The deep analysis and description of my work is probably best left for more competent minds.
I would say my work is simply the result of constant search and experimentation or the product of creative freedom in which the process is more important than outcome.
I'm a product of the convergence of several influences, experiences and traditions, for example;
the African and the European/Western, the traditional and modern, formal and informal, urban and rural.
We can therefore conclude I'm many things: an American raised in Africa and at the same time an African artist living and working in diaspora.
Much of my early and formative exposure to drawing, creation and art happened in my elementary school years.
Under the tutelage of Rowland Abiodun, Moyo Okediji and Bolaji Campbell, I would later earn a Bachelors in Fine Art (Painting major) from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. This was an experience that has served me well.
My work deals with several themes and I employ several techniques. African, especially West African motifs and iconology are frequently incorporated. While new concepts and ideas happen quickly, gestation periods can be frustratingly long. In fact I do find myself returning to rework decade old paintings.
